Spray Foam vs. Spray-Applied Fibre Insulation
Compare assembly role, substrate, finish, access and documentation without treating the products as interchangeable.
Start with evidence
Record the existing substrate, exposure, damage, access and previous work. Photographs are useful when they are labelled as actual projects or clearly identified as representative.
Define performance and constraints
Identify the required outcome, operating hours, adjacent finishes, ventilation, cure or drying time and documentation obligations before selecting a product.
Request a written scope
The proposal should identify preparation, repairs, materials, application limits, exclusions, protection and the party responsible for inspections or testing.
Verify before closeout
Review appearance, coverage, transitions and required records. Keep product and maintenance information with the property file.
Compare the intended role
Start with the substrate, building element and required outcome. Ask whether the proposed system addresses thermal performance, acoustics, air control or a separately specified fire-protection requirement. Do not identify a material by colour, or assume that every sprayed product serves the same purpose.
Compare the complete installation
Request preparation, access, related control layers, protection and finish requirements for each option. Check the current product and assembly documentation with the designer. A fair price comparison includes those associated tasks and the work excluded by each proposal, not only the application area.
