For roofs, find the water
Map leaks, seams, drains, penetrations and suspected wet insulation. Coating over trapped moisture or failed components does not correct the underlying assembly.
For containment, define exposure
Identify chemicals, concentrations, temperatures, contact duration and cleaning. Give safety data and process information to the system designer.
Inspect movement and transitions
Cracks, joints, wall-to-floor transitions, terminations and penetrations need compatible details. Movement capability is system-specific.

A useful proposal identifies preparation, repairs, materials, approximate coverage or thickness, exclusions and site responsibilities.
