Performance Spray Insulation supplied a new photo and video record for the Ocean View project in Nanaimo. The project notes identify 388 Machleary Street and the Molnar Group. The supplied application video clearly shows an IFTI DC315 container and overhead spray work.

What the project record shows

The photographs show overhead surfaces, ductwork, pipework and suspended ceiling framing in an interior under construction. Those details matter when planning access and protection around building services. The video identifies DC315; it does not establish a final installed thickness, inspection result or fire-resistance rating.

Why the product identity matters

IFTI describes DC315 as an intumescent coating for specified spray polyurethane foam thermal- and ignition-barrier systems. It is not interchangeable with Monoglass glass-fibre insulation or a general-purpose wall paint. The actual foam, coating system, application requirements and project specification must be checked together. A product label is useful evidence of the product on site, while acceptance of the completed assembly needs its own documentation.

Plan the work around the building

Before a similar coating enquiry, identify the surfaces needing treatment, access height, nearby services and the sequence of ceiling work. Confirm who protects fixtures, ducts, floors and adjacent finishes. Coordinate with the other trades so later installations do not damage newly applied material, and make repair responsibilities clear before handover.

Ask for a scope you can compare

A useful proposal names the substrate and coating, the area to be treated, preparation and masking, access equipment and the required records. Separate coating application from insulation work, electrical work and finishing tasks. Ask how the specified coverage is documented and which project professional reviews any changes. Do not assume that a photograph or a completed-looking surface replaces that review.
